I am one who has been extremely excited for Heavy Rain ever since I first read about it. But this also gives those who dare tread the unwalked path a true chance to shine. ![]() I guess what I am trying to express is that games are just very predictable at this point. We have our Sports games, Our extreme sports games, Third Person Action games, Rpgs, Jrpgs, FPS, Racing, Simulation, MMOs. Games anymore, seem to fall into a very select few genres, plain and simple. But at the same time, extremely unfortunate. It is completely understandable that game publishers are wary of funding development of new titles, as to the questioned success of said titles. But at the same time, I still stare at my collection of games often times craving something new, something I haven't heard of, or even dare I say "Genre bending" titles. The bottom line is, a good game, is a good game. Now don't get me wrong, I am beyond excited to run out and pick up copies of Mass Effect 2, God of War 3, Battlefield Bad Company 2 and etc. ![]() With that being true, we have entered an era of sequels. Major game publishers seem much less willing to invest money in new IP's in this time of financial instability. With the endless stream of shooters, third person action games and the yearly wave of sports titles, we find ourselves seeing less and less new IP's and more sequels to previously successful titles. What many of us have failed to consider is just how this Recession affects game development also. And while many of us weep at the thin state of our wallets due to the countless major game titles released around the passed holiday season, and the games of Q1 2010. ![]() Whether many of us like to admit it or not, we've all been affected by the Recession in some way or another.
